Cam Gigandet is an American actor best known for portraying surfer Kevin Volchok in the Fox TV series, «The OC.»

Early years

Cam Joslin Gigandet was born on August 16, 1982 in Tacoma, Washington. After graduated High School in Auburn in 2001, he moved to California where he attended Santa Monica Community College. He took an acting class there and fell in love with it. In 2003, he got his first role and made his Tv debut with a guest appearance on the series «CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.»

Career

In 2004 he starred in a short film titled «Mistaken» and then guest-starred on series such as «The Young & The Restless» and «Jack & Bobby.»

In 2006 he got a recurring role  as Kevin Volchok on the television series «The OC.» His appearance on the show brought him a lot of attention and with this came a lot of opportunities.

His film roles have included «American Crude» (2007), «On The Doll» (2007),  «Who’s Your Caddy?» (2007), «Making Change» (2008) and «Never Back Down» (2008) alongside Sean Faris and Amber Heard.

Then Cam Gigandet starred as a tracker vampire called James in «Twilight,» a movie directed by Catherine Hardwicke, starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, and based on the vampire novel written by Stephenie Meyer — «Twilight» hit theaters on November 21, 2008.

In January 2009, «The Unborn,» a thriller in which he plays the boyfriend of Odette Yustman’s character, hit theaters. His character, Mark Hardigan, is a good guy for once…

Upcoming projects

Cam Gigandet is booked to star in movies such as «Pinkville,» «Kid Cannabis,» «Five Star Day» and «Kerosene Cowboys.» He is also starring alongside Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster in a film called «Pandorum,» filmed in Berlin in August 2008.

Recently he joined the cast of «The Roommate,» «Easy A,» «The Experiment,» and «Priest.»

Bad guy

Kevin Volchok in «The OC,» Ryan McCarthy in «Never Back Down» or James in «Twilight,»… Cam Gigandet likes playing bad guys, obviously and he has a surprising talent for it. He recently said in an interview that he is drawn to playing someone with an edge, someone with something broken inside of him and that he enjoys exploring roles on the darker side.

In 2008 Cam Gigandet was honored with several awards such as The One To Watch, The MTv Movie Award for Best Fight and The Rising Male Star Of The Year.
