Priest (2010)
Cam Gigandet has been cast to star opposite Paul Bettany in «Priest,» a horror western directed by Scott Stewart. The actor will play a young wasteland sheriff who partners with Bettany to save the girl he loves, the niece.
Synopsis
A western-infused post-apocalyptic thriller, set in an alternate world — one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest (Paul Bettany) from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities. When his niece (Lily Collins) is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on an obsessive quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend (Cam Gigandet), a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess (Maggie Q) who possesses otherworldly fighting skills.
Details
Adapted by Cory Goodman from a TokyoPop comic book written by Min-Woo Hyung, «Priest» is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece…
“Priest is partially based on the graphic novel,” said Bettany. “Their world in the comic and our world are quite different. The film is set in alternate reality and I play a vampire-slaying priest, which is really exciting for me.”
